The 2026 edition of Luminary Cup, co-organised by the Faculty of Law and the School of Chinese at The University of Hong Kong, was successfully held on 10 January 2026 (Saturday). For the first time since the Competition was launched in 2024, all senior-year law students from The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the City University of Hong Kong are eligible to compete.

This year, 52 students studying for the LLB, JD and PCLL programmes in the three law schools participated in the Competition in teams of two. Competitors are required to make written and oral submissions on the elements of offences and defences for three charges of criminal damage under the Crimes Ordinance (Cap 200), based on the scenario where the defendant was mistakenly authorised with access to a computer system, who then sent multiple potentially damaging messages and spread the system’s login information to others.

Current and former judges, barristers and solicitors adjudicated rounds for the Competition and presented prizes to the winners. Moreover, representatives from all three law schools in Hong Kong attended the prize presentation ceremony and delivered remarks for the Competition.

The overall champion and the champion for best written submissions is Mr Man Ching Fung (BBA(Law)&LLB 4, The University of Hong Kong) and Mr Lau Hoi Lim (BSocSc(Govt&Laws)&LLB 4), The University of Hong Kong). The champion for best advocate goes to Mr Fong Chun Kit (LLB 4, The Chinese University of Hong Kong). The full list of prize awardees can be viewed here.

Hong Kong is the only common law jurisdiction in the world that operates in both Chinese and English, and the development of legal Chinese is of crucial importance. As always, the Faculty of Law has strived to push for the development of bilingual legal system in Hong Kong, including the offering of courses on legal Chinese and legal language, and organising activities related to Chinese advocacy.

明鏡盃：2026年度中文模擬法庭比賽於香港大學圓滿舉行

由香港大學法律學院與中文學院合辦的2026年度「明鏡盃」已於 2026 年 1 月 10 日（星期六）圓滿舉行。第一屆比賽於 2024 年舉行，今年首次開放予香港大學、香港中文大學及香港城市大學的所有高年級法律系學生參賽。

今年，三所法律學院共 52 名修讀法律本科、法律碩士及法學專業證書的學生，以兩人一隊形式參加比賽。比賽題目的情境是，被告人因誤授權限而得以存取電腦系統，隨後發送多則可能造成損害的訊息，並將系統登入資訊散布給他人；參賽者須就《刑事罪行條例》（第 200 章）下的三項刑事毀壞控罪的罪行元素及抗辯理由，提供書面及口頭陳詞。

比賽獲現任及前任法官、大律師及律師擔任賽事評審，並為優勝者頒發獎項。此外，香港三所法律學院的代表均有出席頒獎典禮，並為比賽致辭。

比賽總冠軍及最佳書面陳詞獎冠軍得主為文正豐（香港大學工商管理學、法學雙學士四年級）及劉凱廉（香港大學政治學、法學雙學士四年級），而最佳訟辯律師獎冠軍得主為方俊傑（香港中文大學法學士四年級）。完整得獎名單可以在此查閱。

香港作為世界上唯一以中英文雙語運作的普通法司法管轄區，發展法律中文尤為重要。法律學院一如既往，致力推動本港雙語法制發展，包括開辦法律中文及法律語言的課程，以及舉辦與中文訟辯相關的活動。
