Inspiring the Next Generation of Law Students

This summer, aspiring law students experienced an immersive introduction to legal education at HKU Law through our Future Legal Professionals programme. The journey began with an engaging orientation hosted by the HKU Law Association, followed by a series of stimulating lectures on contract law, criminal law, tort law and the history of law, delivered by Mr Jacky Yeung, Assistant Dean (Student Wellness) and Senior Lecturer, and our teachers, Professor Craig Purshouse and Dr Anya Adair.

Highlights included interactive mock trial workshops and demonstrations led by HKU Law students and the Faculty’s Advocacy & Mooting Society, as well as a lively sharing session by two young Bachelor of Laws (LLB) alumni, Mr Jason Louie, Barrister, and Mr Sylvester Ribeiro, Solicitor, who explored how one law degree can lead to diverse professional pathways. Students also gained valuable industry perspectives from Mr Desmond Yu and Mr Jun Kwong, the law firm partners.

The programme concluded with exceptionally impressive student presentations that showcased intellectual curiosity and reflections. Professor Marco Wan, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) and Admissions Tutor, delivered the closing remarks, while Mr Jacky Yeung shared admissions insights with students and their families as they celebrated the successful completion of the programme.
