To commemorate Mr Eric Pun (LLB 1981, PCLL 1982), a gifted musician, a talented lawyer, and a good friend to many, who left us in 2018; his family, a group of alumni from his class and those from St Paul’s Co-Educational College has established the “Eric Pun Memorial Prize in Music” to a law student who has outstanding musical achievements in the previous year.

The 2021-22 prize is awarded to Miss Justine Leung (LLB 2). Justine held a music scholarship throughout high school and studied music at a higher level for her secondary school diploma, taking on various ensemble positions including Director of her school’s Secondary String Ensemble. She was a semi-finalist of the international Crown Education Challenge 2020 art category, ranking in the top 10% for a seven-part composition surrounding the theme of hope amidst the pandemic. She enjoys ensemble performance and arranging scores in her spare time outside of her legal studies.

 

The 2022-23 prize goes to Miss Jennifer Ho (BBA(Law)&LLB 5) and Miss Vivienne Lam (BSS(Govt&Laws)&LLB 5). Jennifer specializes in violin performance. She has multiple solo performance experiences and has received awards in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. Throughout her musical journey, she also led orchestras and choir to participate in local and international performances and competitions held in Shenzhen, Taiwan and Japan etc. Her most recent violin solo recital was successfully held in March 2023 at Hong Kong City Hall.

Vivienne is a percussionist promoting Web3 innovations and sustainability in music. She has been creating her original NFT music and writing lyrics on Opensea. As the Champion of the Sustainable Eurovision 2023, she pitched to the organizer of Eurovision, an international song competition on her Explorer Pass proposal with Ukranian features to promote peace using music.
