The 2024 Chinese Mooting Competition, co-organised by the Faculty of Law and the School of Chinese at the University of Hong Kong, was successfully concluded on 13 April 2024 (Saturday). This is the first ever Chinese mooting competition held for university law students in Hong Kong, and is a milestone in Hong Kong legal education history.

44 students studying for the LLB, JD and PCLL programmes participated in the competition that day in teams of two. The competition question involves the relationship between visual intrusion and private nuisance, where competitors are required to make written and oral submissions as to how the Fearn case in the UK Supreme Court and its legal tests are applicable in Hong Kong.

The competition is honoured with the presence of many judicial officers and legal professionals as judges and prize presenters. All judges unanimously praised the outstanding performance of the competitors. Eventually, the overall champion is Ms Leung Sze Ching Jerrie (LLB 4) and Mr Wong Tsz Shing Oscar (BSocSc(Govt&Laws)&LLB 5). The champion for best written submissions goes to Mr Lum Yu Chung (BSocSc(Govt&Laws)&LLB 3) and Ms Wong King Wai (BSocSc(Govt&Laws)&LLB 3), and the champion for best advocate goes to Mr Tsui Zealot Kenneth (BSocSc(Govt&Laws)&LLB 5). Hong Kong is the only common law jurisdiction in the world that operates in both Chinese and English, and the development of legal Chinese is of crucial importance. The Faculty of Law has always strived to push for the development of bilingual legal system in Hong Kong, including the offering of courses on legal Chinese and legal language, and organising activities related to Chinese advocacy.

香港大學首屆中文模擬法庭比賽

由香港大學法律學院及中文學院合辦的 2024 年度中文模擬法庭比賽經已於 2024 年 4 月 13 日（星期六）圓滿舉行。此比賽為香港首屆供修讀法律系的大學生參加的中文模擬法庭比賽，是香港法律教育史的一個里程碑。

當日共有 44 名修讀法律本科、法律碩士及法學專業證書的學生，以兩人一隊形式作賽。比賽題目牽涉視覺侵擾與私人妨擾的關係，參賽者須就英國最高法院的 Fearn 案及其驗證標準應如何適用於香港作書面及口頭陳詞。

比賽有幸邀得多名司法人員及法律界人士擔任評判及頒獎嘉賓。各評判均一致讚賞各參賽者的優秀表現。最終，比賽由梁詩晴（法學士四年級）、黃子誠（政治學、法學雙學士五年級）奪得總冠軍，林汝聰（政治學、法學雙學士三年級）、黃競慧（政治學、法學雙學士三年級）奪得最佳書面陳詞獎冠軍，徐紹熙（政治學、法學雙學士五年級）奪得最佳訟辯律師獎冠軍。完整得獎名單可透過「香港法律語言」網站查閱：www.lawlang.com。

香港作為世界上唯一以中英文雙語運作的普通法司法管轄區，發展法律中文尤為重要。法律學院一直致力推動本港雙語法制發展，包括開辦法律中文及法律語言的課程，以及舉辦與中文訟辯相關的活動。
